Maybe I don't dance well... but apparently I can dance the Zumba! If you haven't heard of it, it's the latest fad in the exercise world. I just attended a class at my gym this morning, and man, was it a blast! I haven't had that much fun since a few high school friends (you know who you are) and I terrorized poor LuAnn Preston during her aerobic's classes a decade ago. Zumba incorporates latin and international music in a dance/exercise routine that includes the styles of salsa, merengue, samba, belly dancing, cumbia, flamenco and reggaeton. Zumba is said to "magically motivate the body to efficiently burn calories, tone all muscle groups, incorporate full range of motion, and improve the cardiovascular system." But can it return my body to its pre-pregnancy state? We shall see. All I know is that is was fun, and I was dripping with sweat at the end (a good sign). Naturally, since I can't dance any of the before mentioned styles, I just made stuff up (just like we did in LuAnne's class), which included mostly prancing around, flailing my arms, and using moves bearing a striking resemblance to Kate's "uncoordinated dance." I just ignored the dirty looks from the fitness informercial-looking snobs around me. Fortunately, the instructor is a friend and thinks I'm funny. That was my best dancing since spontaneously dancing a pre-show with Jaime before the Little Shop of Horrors play at Utah State. Jaime... I think you were meant to Zumba too! So I recommend anyone looking for a new work-out to check this one out. They offer it at most gyms now or you can get the DVD online.

that's sounds fun! I'm getting a little burned out of step aerobics with all my church friends. Maybe if we had a cool DVD it would be a good change!
Those were the days, exercising just to exercise. At least now you will see some results!. Hooray for gym day-care... you deserve a little mommy time!
