Home at Last...

On Friday, the 13th (our lucky day) Momma C, Rob, Kari, Rich and Rocky accompanied Jack and I home. We made quite an exit from the hospital, with Rocky riding on my lap in the wheelchair. The whole experience went so much smoother than last time, what without the labor and all. The longest and toughest part seemed to be finding a vein for the IV. They stuck me so many times I started throwing up, which continued throughout the day. The actual surgery was incredibly quick, with a swift slice and yank of baby's feet and staple job lasting only 10 minutes total. It was amazing. I actually got to hold the baby afterwards this time, which was a great improvement and numbed the shock of what had just occurred. I was thinking that this was a piece of cake and that c-sections were the way to go until the next day when the spinal-administered morphine wore off, and I actually felt like my stomach had been sliced open. Ouch. Fortunately, I have lots of help. Momma C has been taking good care of us, and Rocky has been having a blast with Uncle Rob and Aunt Kari. He struggled in the "hosipal" as he called it, and just wanted to cuddle next to me in bed asking me concerned questions about all the tubes/IV. Every few minutes he would exclaim, "Baby came out of your tummy mommy." It wasn't until I came home from the hospital that Davey showed an interest in his little brother, comforting him when he cried by stroking his head gently and saying, "It's okay Jack. Brother right here." He kept bringing him toys and saying, "He's so cute." Today, out of nowhere he brought me a stack of diapers while I was feeding Jack and said, "Diapers for the baby." I think he's going to be a good helper. To celebrate Father's Day today, Rich has been cleaning, cooking, doing laundry and fixing our drains. Yep, all the toilets, tubs and sinks are backed up today from clogged underground roots. Figures. Happy Father's Day Rich! He appreciates his gift from me though, baby Jack, as it was really hard to make. Let's hope he wants something different next year.

WELCOME BABY JACK!!!

We are pleased to announce the new arrival of an 8.7 lbs baby boy!

Jack came into the world around 7:40a.m., this being the 11th of June, by showering all within his immediate area with cries of gratitude, and urine. The doctors didn't even flinch at the barrage of new pee but actually it seemed to endear them to Jack. We are doing well, and are so appreciative of all the help.

List of Jacks & a Funny Video

Ok... here are the answers you've been waiting for. The Jacks (& Riley) from the previous post are:
1. Jack Bauer - from TV series 24
2. Jack Bristow - from TV series Alias
3. Captain Jack Sparrow - Pirates of the Caribbean
4. Jack Skelington (aka: the Pumpkin King) - Nightmare Before Christmas
5. Jack Ryan - Patriot Games, Clear & Present Danger
6. Riley Poole - National Treasure movies
7. Jack Kelley - Newsies
8. Jack Nicholson/Jack Napier - Batman

I know, I know.... these were pretty easy. Since making the list, Rich and I have discovered about a dozen more. Is it just us, or does every movie/TV series have a Jack in it? Is it just the standard Hollywood name, like how the phone #'s all start with 555? Anyway, we're excited that our Jack will be making his debut in less than 2 days!!! We'll update the blog as soon as we can... until then, here is a funny video for your enjoyment. I really wish I could use these for my last few pregnant days, (maybe I wouldn't spill all over myself so much!) and it would sure come in handy while nursing. Hmm... hilarious.

We've settled on a name!

First, I would like to thank everyone that participated in our baby name contest. It gave us a lot to work with and provided much entertainment. There were some close calls. Unfortunately, having such large extended families and friends that are all having kids, many choices were taken. So we dug deep to find something original that would also go well with David Rocky. Before revealing the name, I would like to recognize the names that received the most votes and the creative minds behind them:

1st Place: Damian James submitted by Melissa Borra
2nd Place: Tommy Cortez submitted by me
3rd Place (tie): Fisher Law submitted by Rich
Coby Richard submitted by Kenzee Petersen
Ryker Barrett submitted by me
Zedekiah Gallaleao submitted by Marci Goddard & Myndee Moulton

So congratulations to all of our winners! We don't have any prizes to offer other than the self-esteem boost you should feel from being a winner. I'm feeling especially good about myself today having won for two of my names. On the other hand, we chose a completely different name. No offense anyone. Our new baby boy's name will be Jack Riley Sorenson. Although these aren't the reason we chose this name, I thought I would share some pics of some of our favorite "Jacks" and "Rileys." Ok, I know they're all fictional characters, but our kid will be the first real life Jack/Riley hero.

See if you can name all these characters and recognize where they're from. We'll give you the answers next week.

Good call Jaime! I can't believe I forgot this last Jack. He's definitely on the list.
